National School Counseling Week 2023 is taking place this week, February 6th - 10th. We would like to take this opportunity to recognize the unique contribution of our school counselors and how our students are positively impacted by their work. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
“School counselors work with all students to remove barriers to learning by addressing students’ academic concerns, career options, and social/emotional skills,” said Jill Cook, ASCA executive director. “School counseling programs help to increase student achievement and provide a much-needed resource for students, parents, teachers, and administrators. School counselors are integral to student success.”
Sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), this year’s theme is “School Counselors: Helping Students Dream Big.” We encourage you to reach out to one (or all) of our counselors and say thanks for their significant contributions to our children's futures.
El Dorado School District sends a special thank you to all our school counselors: Amy Miller, Amanda Roberson, and Nancy Watson (EHS); Christa Lyons and Heather McKinnon (BJHS); Amanda Brown and Kelsey Jones (WMS); Hope Brinkman (Northwest); Kaci Johnson (Yocum Elementary); Jennifer Readhimer (Yocum Primary); Nanette Darden (Hugh Goodwin). We’d also like to recognize Holly Billings, the district’s Behavior Support Specialist/Mental Health Coordinator, who works closely with our counselors to support them as they support students and teachers.
