After reviewing nearly 25,000 high schools, U.S. News and World Report ranked El Dorado High School as one of the 2024 Best High Schools in the U.S.
Among the approximately 17,660 public high schools were a mix of charter, magnet, and traditional high schools, all meeting the designated criteria. The six indicators of school quality that U.S. News uses to calculate the rankings are as follows:
College readiness, based on the proportions of 12th-grade students who took and earned a qualifying score on AP and/or IB exams.
College curriculum breadth, based on proportions of 12th-grade students who took and earned a qualifying score on AP and/or IB exams in multiple content areas.
Based on student performance on state-required tests, math, reading, and science proficiency.
Math, reading, and science performance, based on whether performance on state assessments exceeded expectations given the school's proportion of underserved students.
Underserved student performance, is based on how Black, Hispanic, and low-income students performed on state assessments compared with those who are not underserved in the state.
Graduation rate, based on the proportion of students who entered ninth grade in 2018-2019 and graduated four years later.
El Dorado High School continues to uphold its commitment to academic excellence and is proud to be recognized among the best high schools in the nation.
Congratulations to the students, faculty, and staff for this outstanding achievement!
